Did you know that more than one-third of the world’s population is infected with TB bacilli (the microbes that cause TB)?

In commemoration of World TB Day (2/24/10), the National TB Controller’s Association (NTCA) led the city of Atlanta in hosting the 4th Annual TB Awareness Walk at Grant Park.  It was an honor to volunteer and participate this year because individuals, families, community groups, and coworkers came together to raise awareness about TB and to emphasize the strides that have been made in treating people with TB.  Because this event was not a fundraiser, there was no registration fee and free t-shirts were provided to all participants.

If you would like information on how to plan a TB Awareness Walk in your area, please contact Dacia Davis at djdavis@cdc.gov.
