CDC Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Field Investigation Guide (2017)

Over the past several years, many field epidemiology training programs (FETPs) have incorporated non-communicable diseases into their areas of focus. The FETP-NCD team at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) supports these programs by providing technical assistance in the form of training and mini-grants (administered through TEPHINET).

In partnership with the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health’s Department of Global Health, the CDC FETP-NCD team has developed a field investigation guide to assist FETP trainees in developing their protocols and carrying out applied field studies related to the following NCD areas:

  • Tobacco
  • Maternal and child health/birth defects
  • Injury
  • Hypertension
  • Cancer
