EPIET Curriculum



The EPIET Introductory Course lasts three weeks and takes place every September/October in one of the host countries. It gathers the new cohort of EPIET EU- and MS track fellows and EUPHEM fellows. The next course is going to be held in Menorca, Spain from 26 September-14 October 2011.

The course´s aims are to acquire basic knowledge and skills in intervention epidemiology and to inspire strong motivation for field investigation. Topics taught during the course include: methods of outbreak investigation, role of the laboratory in intervention epidemiology, development and presentation of a study protocol, developing and evaluating surveillance systems and analysing surveillance data,  analytical epidemiological skills for data analysis, teaching epidemiology, written and oral communication skills.
 The training methods include lectures, supported by interactive case studies and practical exercises in small groups. All exercises and case studies are based on real investigations.
