This course introduces the basics of data analysis and interpretation, with a focus on using data to make public health technical and management decisions.

When participants complete this course they will be able to:

  • Describe how data are used in health organizations and programs
  • Identify methods for summarizing data
  • Explain how data analysis and interpretation can improve decisions
  • Prepare and apply tables, graphs, and charts such as line graphs, bar charts, pie charts, and spot (dot) maps, for summarizing data
  • Make recommendations and decisions based on data

This course includes a participants workbook, facilitator guide and PowerPoint presentation.

Estimated course length: 5 hours

Target audience: public health professionals who must analyze and interpret data to make public health recommendations or management decisions.
