Survey of Overweight, Obesity and Hypertension among Workers in Federal Ministry of Health Abuja − Nigeria, 2010

Introduction: Overweight and obesity are emerging public health threats in developing countries. They are important risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. In 2008 it was estimated that 16.1% and 6% of Nigerian women aged 15 – 49 years were overweight and obese. We assessed the prevalence of overweight and obesity among workers in the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) to determine their association with age, sex and hypertension.

Prevalence of Undetected, Untreated, and Uncontrolled Hypertension among Attendants of Primary Health Care Centers in Naseriya city/ Iraq

Background: Hypertension (HT) is a major public health concern with increasing prevalence in EMRO, where Iraq had the highest prevalence. Studies on HT are a basis for rational planning of health policy. The objective of this study is to estimate the prevalence undetected, untreated and uncontrolled HT among adult population in Nasisriya city/ Iraq.
