An Outbreak of Salmonella Serotype Dubin Infections Associated with Eating Egg Sandwiches from a Supermarket -- Zhejiang province, China, 2011

Background: Salmonella infection is estimated to cause 10% of bacterial gastroenteritis outbreaks in China. In October 2011, a gastroenteritis outbreak occurred in school M in Zhejiang Province. We conducted an investigation to identify the risk factors and source of contamination.

Food Poisoning Outbreak Associated with the Ingestion of Traditional Lebanese Ground Raw Meat at a Wedding Reception- Mount Lebanon, 2010

Background: In the year 2010, 484 cases of food poisoning were reported. Many of the outbreaks were attributed to ground raw meat, a traditional Lebanese plate. In August 2010, after a wedding reception, over 100 food-poisoning patients were reported. The epidemiologic surveillance team investigated the outbreak.

Evaluation of the Salmonella Surveillance System in Baku Azerbaijan, 2006-2008

Background: According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1.4 million people are infected each year with salmonella in the USA. During the 2006-2008 period, 1,333 cases of salmonella were registered in Azerbaijan, 98% were in children under 14 years. We evaluated the salmonella surveillance system to identify the reliability of existing surveillance data for salmonellosis from Baku, Azerbaijan.

A Salmonella Food Poisoning Outbreak in Army Reserve Force Student Camp in Northern Thailand, October 2009

Background: On 16 October 2009, Bureau of Epidemiology (BOE) was notified that 50 Army Reserve Force Students (ARFS) in a two-week training camp in northern Thailand went to a hospital with diarrhea in past 2 days. Outbreak investigation was initiated to verify diagnosis, identify risk factors, and recommend control measures.
